Outpatient Treatment Requests (OTR)
Have you had your medication changed by someone other than the Practice?
If you are referred to a hospital, the consultant, doctor, nurse practitioner or pharmacist prescriber may decide to recommend that your GP makes a change to your usual medication. Examples of the changes could be:
- Adding new medication
- Changing the dose or strength of some of your existing medication
- Stopping some of your medication
If the matter is considered urgent, then you will be given a prescription to take away.
Otherwise, a form will be sent to the Practice giving us details we need. Normally the prescription will be available within 7 working days (Mondays to Fridays), but you may phone the Practice (or check your on-line medication record) in three or four working days.
If you are registered for Electronic Prescription Service (EPS), you will be able to pick up the medication at the pharmacy you have chosen.
